FirstHealth of the Carolinas has been a trusted neighbor to residents of this region for many years.  Our core purpose, to care for people, is illustrated by our commitment to continually expand services to meet the needs of our patients and the community, to provide state-of-the art technology, and to offer exemplary quality in health care and customer service.

With health care programs and services that reach a 15-county region including Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson and Scotland counties, FirstHealth is one of the most comprehensive health systems in the mid-Carolinas.

Mickey W. Foster, MHA

Bio

Mickey W. Foster is the chief executive officer (CEO) of FirstHealth of the Carolinas. Prior to joining FirstHealth, Mr. Foster was president of The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, and senior vice president for Cone Health from 2014 to 2019. Prior to his role at Moses Cone Hospital, Foster served as president of Cone Health’s Annie Penn Hospital and senior vice president of hospital operations from 2010 to 2014. Before joining Cone Health, Foster served as vice president/chief operating officer at Maria Parham Medical Center, a 102-bed hospital in Henderson, North Carolina, from 2007 to 2010. From 2002 to 2007, Foster was administrative director at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Foster served as director at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, North Carolina from 1997 to 2002, and education coordinator with FirstHealth corporate education in Pinehurst, North Carolina, from 1994 to 1997.  

 

As CEO, Mr. Foster is responsible for directing the development and operation of the Corporation in all activities in coordination with the policies adopted by the Board of Directors. Mr. Foster develops and coordinates the Corporation’s goals, objectives and strategic plans, and ensures that the core purpose of the Corporation, to care for people, is fulfilled.

 

Mr. Foster earned his Bachelor of Science in Community Health from East Carolina University in 1994, where he received the Outstanding Senior Award. He earned a Master of Health Services Administration degree from Central Michigan University in 2000.

 

Mr. Foster is actively involved in civic leadership roles. He serves on the Moore County Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors, the North Carolina Healthcare Association Board of Trustees and Policy Development Committee. He is a member of the East Carolina University Board of Visitors and the East Carolina University Educational Foundation - Pirate Club. Mr. Foster has served on the Board of Directors for the Guilford Technical Community College Foundation, the Board of Directors for the Rockingham YMCA, Rockingham County Health Alliance, Rockingham County Hospice and Rockingham Wells Fargo. Foster is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives. He is the recipient of the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year, Triad Business Journal Top 40 Leaders under 40 and Triad Business Journal Most Influential Leader Award. He was also named to Business North Carolina Magazine's Power List for 2021 and 2022. He was also included in the Triangle Business Journal's 2022 class of CEO & C-Suite Award winners.

Jenifir J. Bruno, M.D.

Bio

Jenifir Bruno, M.D., was named FirstHealth chief medical officer on December 7, 2020. Dr. Bruno became affiliated with FirstHealth in March 2003 as a hospitalist at Moore Regional Hospital. In July 2008, she joined FirstHealth as assistant medical director for the Hospitalist Program. Since joining FirstHealth, Dr. Bruno has also served in other leadership roles for both the FirstHealth Physician Group and the Medical Affairs Division. She also served as medical director for FirstCarolinaCare Insurance Company. Dr. Bruno earned her medical degree from Creighton University and completed an internship and residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Dr. Bruno is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Jeffrey A. Casey

Bio

Jeffrey A. Casey has served as chief financial officer since December 2020. He previously served as vice president of finance and support services and as vice president, finance. Casey received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining FirstHealth of the Carolinas, he was the chief financial officer of Columbia Southwest Hospital in Louisville, Ky., and controller of Bluegrass Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, Ky. He also served as chief accountant and assistant controller of Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Casey is a graduate of the Moore County Leadership Institute and a member of the North Carolina Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Jonathan S. Davis, MPH, FACHE

Bio

JONATHAN S. DAVIS, MPH, FACHE, serves as the chief operating officer (COO) for FirstHealth of the Carolinas and president of Moore Regional Hospital. Davis is responsible for the daily oversight of FirstHealth’s operations, serving as president of Moore Regional Hospital along with direct responsibility for Montgomery Memorial Hospital, MRH-Richmond and MRH-Hoke. He reports directly to the CEO.

Education/Experience: Prior to his current position, Mr. Davis served as the president of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., a position he held from 2015 until February 2021. In that role, Davis had strategic and operational responsibilities for the hospital, primary and subspecialty physician practices, and a community ambulatory surgical center. He also had officer responsibility for Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, which includes nursing facilities, Home Health and Hospice.

Prior to Sentara, Davis served as president of Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and president/CEO of Via Christi-Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kan. His career also includes experience with two of the largest faith-based health systems in the United States, Ascension and CHI-St. Vincent Health System.

Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University, Master of Arts degree from Northern Arizona University and Master of Public Health Administration from Tulane University/Arkansas Medical School.

Professional/Community Activities: Mr. Davis a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
