When you call, we will request:
- Your name, facility, department and phone number
- Patient’s name, date of birth and diagnosis
- Reason for transfer
- Bed type needed
The Transfer Center staff will:
- Contact the admitting physician
- Coordinate a conversation between the referring and admitting physicians
- Assign a bed
- Connect the transferring and receiving nurses for a full nursing report
- Coordinate patient transport with the transferring hospital staff
The Transfer Center assures EMTALA-compliant transfers when they are coordinated through the Transfer Center. The FirstHealth Transfer Center is the only agent or entity authorized by FirstHealth to accept transfers.
