Lisa R. Cowan, M.D., is the medical director for FirstHealth FirstCare, a convenient care clinic located in Raeford. Dr. Cowan is board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed her internship and residency at University Health Systems in Greenville, N.C.

Prior to joining FirstCare, Dr. Cowan was associated with Sandhills Emergency Physicians, the practice that provides emergency department care for all FirstHealth hospitals including Moore Regional in Pinehurst.

Dennis A. Dolgan, M.D., is board certified in emergency medicine. He earned his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio, and completed his internship and residency in emergency medicine from Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio.

Dr. Dolgan was an emergency medicine physician for 24 years with Lake Health System in Lake County, Ohio, before his recent move to the Sandhills area to join the FirstCare team.

James Shaffer, P.A.-C earned his degree from Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. Prior to joining FirstCare, Mr. Shaffer was associated with FirstHealth Hospitalist Services at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Jeffrey Kern, P.A.-C earned his degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. In addition to FirstCare, Mr. Kern serves as a physician assistant at the Carolina Family Medicine in Rockingham, N.C.

Christopher McLaren, P.A.-C earned his degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, S.C.

During his clinical rotations for the physician assistant program, he spent time in many specialties including general medicine, family medicine, women's health, pediatrics, mental health and emergency medicine.

Tom Wilkins, P.A.-C., earned his degree from University of Nebraska in Omaha. In addition to FirstCare, Mr. Wilkins now serves as a physician assistant with Pinehurst Family Care Center in Pinehurst. Previously, he was a physician assistant in Montgomery County and he has many years of experience in the field. 

 

Rob Thomas, P.A.-C, earned his degree from Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C. In addition to FirstCare, Mr. Thomas serves as a physician assistant at the FirstHealth Family Care Center - Troy.
