Jackie Welder felt that gastric sleeve was the best surgical weight-loss option for her. She says being morbidly obese has to be one of the worst feelings in the world and that bariatric surgery was her lifesaver. Jackie recalls sitting on the sidelines and watching her family enjoy various activities. Now she can take part in these activities, too. She enjoys running and plans to participate in an upcoming marathon and go with her family to Carowinds. She says her family is extremely supportive of her weight-loss lifestyle and has even incorporated her new diet into their own lives.
Just three months ago, Brittany had gastric sleeve surgery and has already lost 60 pounds. A 24-year old emergency room nurse with polycystic ovarian syndrome, Brittany had a hard losing weight because of the disease. In addition she was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. Today, Brittany no longer has diabetes (she came off her diabetes medicine the day of surgery), her blood pressure is down and she has a whole new outlook on life. Her primary care physician is extremely happy with her results and continued progress. Brittany has made plans to go sky diving this summer and recently ran her first 5K.
Juanita was 50 years old with chronic asthma. She weighed 350 pounds with a BMI of 52 and was border line for high blood pressure. Her doctor told her she needed to make a change in her life. So she had weight-loss surgery. Today, she has lost 150 pounds and her BMI is around 29. She has not used her inhaler for her asthma or had a breathing treatment in three years.
