We understand that hospital billing procedures can sometimes be confusing; therefore, FirstHealth provides professionally trained financial counselors at all three hospitals who are available to provide you with information about financial assistance.

Patient Financial Responsibilities
Patients who do not have insurance coverage, are unable to provide FirstHealth with adequate insurance information or who wish to file their own insurance claims must pay FirstHealth in full at the time services are provided or make satisfactory arrangements for payment.

Patients with health insurance coverage will be expected to pay any copays, deductibles, co-insurance or any other patient portion at the time services are provided, or make satisfactory arrangements for payment. All requests for payment are estimated amounts due. Any additional remaining balance will be billed to you and is due upon receipt of the statement from FirstHealth.

If you are unable to pay your balance by the due date, please contact the Business Office at ( 910) 715-1010 or toll-free at ( 800) 798-6946 to discuss a workable solution.

You are responsible for paying your portion of the balance whenever you are billed whether or not your insurance company has paid its portion of the balance. The fact that the insurance company has not paid its portion of the balance does not relieve you of your obligation to pay his/her share. We encourage you to follow up with your insurance company if the bill has not been paid.

Payment Options
We realize that many services provided to you by FirstHealth may result in unexpected expenses for you; therefore, we want to give you as many payment options as possible:

  • Cash
  • Check/Money Order
  • Debit Cards
  • Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express

In addition, FirstHealth now offers patients the convenience of online bill pay for its FirstHealth hospital bills. The service is accessible through the FirstHealth Web site at www.firsthealth.org either by clicking on Accounts & Billing on the menu or by clicking on the quick link. Online bill payment is quick, easy and secure, and offers options to use either a credit card or bank checking account.

FirstHealth has other options that we can discuss with you, such as government-assisted programs and our Financial Aid Program. Assistance is based on financial need, and we will make every attempt to provide you with payment solutions to fit your circumstances. If you have any questions, please contact one of our financial counselors.
