Screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm (men)
One-time ultrasound screening in men ages 65 to 75 who have ever smoked.
Alcohol misuse screening and behavioral counseling interventions (men, women, pregnant women)
Aspirin for prevention of heart attack (men, women)
Adults at increased risk for coronary heart disease.
Screening for bacteria in urine (pregnant women)
Breast cancer, chemical prevention of (women)
Discuss with women at high risk for breast cancer and at low risk for adverse effects of chemoprevention.
Screening for breast cancer (women)
Mammography every 1-2 years for women 40 and older.
Breast and ovarian cancer risk (women)
Refer women with a family history of breast and ovarian cancer for family history counseling and evaluation.
Breastfeeding (women, pregnant women)
Education and programs to promote breastfeeding.
Screening for cervical cancer (women)
Women who have been sexually active and have a cervix.
Screening for chlamydia (women, pregnant women)
Sexually active women 25 and younger and other women with no symptoms, but at increased risk for infection. Pregnant women 25 years and younger and others at increased risk.
Screening for colorectal cancer (men, women)
Men and women 50 and older.
Prevention of cavities in preschool children
Oral fluoride supplements at currently recommended doses to preschool children older than 6 months whose primary water source lacks fluoride.
Screening for depression (men, women)
Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
Screening for type 2 diabetes in adults (men, women)
Adults with high blood pressure or excess fat in the blood.
Behavioral counseling to promote a healthy diet (men, women)
Adults known risk factors for cardiovascular and diet-related chronic disease.
Screening for gonorrhea (women, pregnant women)
All sexually active women, including those who are pregnant, at increased risk for infection (that is, if they are young or have other individual or population risk factors).
Preventive medication for gonorrhea (children)
Topical medication for all newborns against gonorrhea contracted during birth.
Screening for hepatitis B virus infection (pregnant women)
Pregnant women at first prenatal visit.
Screening for high blood pressure (men, women)
Screening for HIV (men, women, pregnant women, children)
All adolescents and adults at increased risk for HIV infection and all pregnant women.
Screening for lipid disorders (men, women)
Men 35 and older and women 45 and older. Younger adults with other risk factors for coronary disease. Screening for lipid disorders to include measurement of total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
Screening for obesity in adults (men, women)
Behavioral counseling to promote sustained weight loss for obese adults.
Screening for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
Women 65 and older and women 60 and older at increased risk for bonebrittleness breaks.
Screening for Rh (D) incompatibility (pregnant women)
Blood typing and antibody testing at first pregnancy-related visit.
Screening for syphilis infection (men, women, pregnant women)
Persons at increased risk and all pregnant women.
Counseling for tobacco use and tobacco-caused disease (men, women, pregnant women)
Tobacco cessation counseling for those who use tobacco. Special pregnancy-tailored counseling to pregnant women who smoke.
Screening for eye weaknesses in children younger than age 5
To detect lazy eye, squint and visual weakness. |
