Hoke Community Hospital Topping-Out Ceremony, Dec. 20, 2012

FirstHealth of the Carolinas broke ground for the FirstHealth Hoke Community Hospital during a ceremony held June 1.

A groundbreaking ceremony for FirstHealth Hoke Community Hospital was held Friday, June 1, 2012, at 10 a.m. at 6408 Fayetteville Road (U.S. Hwy. 401) in Raeford. .

For more than two decades, FirstHealth of the Carolinas has demonstrated its commitment to caring for the residents of Hoke County.  In continuing that commitment, FirstHealth has expanded their health care services in Hoke County to include digital mammography and extended hours on weekday evenings and Saturdays at the FirstHealth Family Care Center-Raeford.


FirstHealth of the Carolinas will open a convenient care clinic this summer in Raeford. The future location of FirstHealth FirstCare is in front of the Walmart on Fayetteville Road. FirstHealth plans to staff the new convenient care clinic with a board certified emergency medicine physician. Additional support medical staff will include physicians and physician extenders.

FirstCare will be available during extended hours on weekdays and weekends to treat acute onset illnesses and injuries for adult and pediatric patients.  Routine X-rays and lab services appropriate for the clinic will also be provided. 


FirstHealth of the Carolinas is pleased to welcome the Jordan Clinic and Jorge “Lu” Caceres to the FirstHealth family.

FirstHealth Family Care Center – Raeford is pleased to welcome Valerie Taylor, P.A.-C to the practice. Ms. Taylor is now accepting appointments for new patients.

The FirstHealth Family Care Center – Raeford is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for walk-ins.

Late Appointments available Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The center also offers evening appointments Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. for new and established patients.

CON Applications
FirstHealth continues to pursue plans for a hospital in Hoke County and will file a certificate of need application to the State of North Carolina on June 15, 2012, for additional beds.

2012 Application
FirstHealth will file an application requesting that the State award FirstHealth the 28 beds available in the service area to increase the size of FirstHealth’s planned eight-bed hospital in Hoke to 36 beds. The hospital will feature:

• Emergency Department with beds providing care 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospitalists for inpatient care
- FirstHealth Moore Regional Emergency Department physicians for Emergency Department care
• Operating room
• Imaging services, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, mammography and MRI
• Diagnostic cardiology
• Critical care transport
• Lab services
• Medical office building space for specialists and other interested physicians

Medical Staff
FirstHealth proposes to operate the facility with an open medical staff, which means that area physicians may apply for privileges at the new hospital regardless of their current affiliation with any other area hospital. Clinics and specialists from Moore County have expressed a willingness to extend services to the Hoke facility. The emergency department will be staffed by the same Sandhills Emergency Physicians who staff Moore Regional Hospital, and inpatient coverage will be managed by
FirstHealth’s Hospitalist Service and other physicians credentialed to admit to the Hoke hospital.

FirstHealth’s Hoke hospital complex will provide Hoke County residents with convenient access to high-quality services by board certified physicians and FirstHealth-trained staff.

Location
The facility will be conveniently located on the Highway 401 corridor just northeast of Raeford.
