Dr. Washington assisted Dr. Mitchell with 250 bariatric surgeries over three years before he began to accept his own bariatric surgery patients.

Aside from working with Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Washington attended national conferences of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and visited other bariatric centers to prepare for performing the procedures on his own.  He is also certified by the American Board of Surgery.
