Julie Walenta, MPH, RD, LDN
Julie Walenta, MPH, RD, LDN serves Moore Regional Hospital's bariatric dietitian. Prior to coming to FirstHealth, Julie worked as an outpatient dietitian for over five years at a preventive medicine institute in Wilmington, Delaware, where she counseled patients on a range of health issues.

However, her primary focus in her previous position, as well as in her current one, was on obesity treatment and prevention; Julie has developed and run weight management programs focusing on behavior modification for treatment of obesity, has taught cooking classes on healthy, low calorie cooking techniques, and has coordinated a grant on childhood obesity that utilized the Shapedown Program for childhood weight management.

Aside from her active role in fighting the disease of obesity, Julie also has dedicated time to leadership in the field of dietetics, serving as the President of the Delaware Dietetic Association in 2003. Due to her commitment to her profession, Julie was honored as Young Dietitian of the Year in 2004.

Julie’s role at FirstHealth of the Carolinas has expanded to include coordination and management of the Bariatric Program.
