The symptoms of a stroke come on suddenly and usually without warning:

  • Numbness or weakness, especially on only one side of the face or body
  • Loss of balance or coordination
  • Difficulty walking
  • Dizziness
  • Mental confusion
  • Difficulty speaking or understanding others when they speak
  • Vision problems in one or both eyes (dimness, double vision or loss of vision)
  • Sudden, severe headache
