More than 15 million adult Americans suffer from urinary incontinence - men and women. One quarter of senior citizens have difficulty with urine leakage, causing them to withdraw socially. Incontinence is not an inevitable result of aging.
The licensed physical therapists at the FirstHealth Centers for Rehabilitation offer several treatment techniques, including manual therapy techniques, diaphragmatic breathing/physiological quieting, or posture and body mechanics training.
Treatments are also available to improve pelvic floor muscle control, including electrical stimulation and training through biofeedback, which has been shown to be effective for 85 percent of patients.
Treatment is also provided for bowel incontinence and retraining. For more information, call (910) 295-0665. |
