The Breast Health Center at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital offers a unique resource for women – offering comprehensive services for breast cancer, with an emphasis on expert medical care, timely responses, and specialized clinicians. Private and comfortable, the facilities are designed specifically with a woman in mind.
Tomorrow’s Technologies Today
The Breast Health Center is equipped with the latest technology in mammography and breast ultrasound and is staffed by Richmond County’s only team of radiologists, John Stevenson, M.D. and Scott Hees, D.O., dedicated to mammography.
Biopsies can be performed on-site using minimally invasive stereotactic guidance. Technology for sentinel lymph node localization procedures is also available.
Computer Aided Detection (CAD) technology, which serves as a second set of eyes for the trained radiologists, converts mammograms into a digital format that clearly outlines any suspicious areas. Computer-aided systems can improve the early detection of breast cancer by almost 20 percent.

If a suspicious mass is identified, the Breast Health Center’s streamlined approach yields test results in less that half of the time typically required.
