FirstHealth has partnered with Southern Pines Recreation & Parks Department, the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills, the North Carolina Cooperative Extension – Moore County Center and the Southern Pines Civic Club to establish a Community Garden in Southern Pines.

FirstGarden is a joint project of at-risk children participating in after-school programs and older adults in the region, including Master Gardeners and community volunteers. Through on-site gardening and interactive education, emphasis is placed on the benefits of gardening as exercise and consumption of fresh vegetables as part of a healthy diet. To date, more than 200 children have participated in the project.
