Cancer Support Services

Treating cancer is about more than just fighting the disease. The FirstHealth Cancer Support Services Program assists patients and their families through counseling, support and crisis intervention. The program also promotes advocacy and offers services for managing grief and bereavement.

As patients and their families navigate the healing process, it is not uncommon for them to feel overwhelmed. The FirstHealth Cancer Support Services Program is designed to provide a helping hand for those who need it.

Patients and family members who are experiencing depression, feelings of anxiety or hopelessness, or who would like to talk with someone about options for treatment or alternatives to pain medication can schedule an appointment with a licensed social worker.

The program also offers assistance in communicating with young children and encourages family-wide coping skills. If needed, qualified staff members can assist with establishing appropriate advance directives such as living wills and medical powers of attorney.
