
FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital is a full-service community hospital. The push for a non-profit community hospital began in 1945, and “Richmond County Memorial Hospital” opened in 1952. It was originally certified for 50 beds. Richmond Memorial Hospital had major expansions completed in 1962, 1975, 1980 and 2003.
A new state-of-the-art emergency department opened in fall 2003, and a new Women’s Imaging Center opened in January 2005. Other recent additions include a new wing that houses labor and delivery suites, a surgery center, a sleep disorders center and outpatient services.
Richmond Memorial joined the FirstHealth of the Carolinas family on March 1, 2001.
