The FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Health Sciences Library is located on the second floor, of the Moore Regional Hospital Conference Center.

The Library is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Our Collection

Books
The Library currently owns more than 1500 health related titles. The emphasis of this collection is on current, clinical books, representing the physician specialties, nursing and hospital departments, professional development, and community health.

Journals
The Library receives approximately 225 medical, nursing, and allied health journal subscriptions, supported by Library and Medical Staff funds, and by individual and departmental donations. Additional full-text journals are available online at the library.

Audiovisuals
The Library has a growing collection of audiovisual materials in professional development and community health.

Electronic Databases
The Library sponsors databases including Gale Health & Wellness, OVID, and MDConsult.

Newspapers
The Library has subscriptions to The Pilot, The Wall Street Journal and The Raleigh News & Observer.

Services available include:

  • Database Searches- Searching services are available to members of the community.
  • Reference - Library staff provides reference services by phone, in-person, mail or e-mail.
  • Photocopying- Photocopier is available.
  • Interlibrary Loan- Interlibrary loan services are available to the community at the discretion of the Library staff.
  • Circulation- Community members may borrow from the Library's community health collection. Circulating books may be borrowed for two weeks; audiovisuals for one week. Reference materials and journals do not circulate.
  • Internet Access -Patrons may access the Internet from one of several public service computers.
  • Education & Training- Individual or group instruction on the use of Library resources is available on request. Self-paced courses on basic computer skills, Spanish language, and medical terminology are available for use on Library computers.
